Forecast of Aviation Activity & Demand

FNL DRAFT Forecast

This chapter presents a 20-year vision of aviation activity and future demand at Northern Colorado Regional Airport (FNL or “the Airport”). These forecasts represent an estimate of future activity levels and provide guidance for decision makers in planning for future improvements at FNL. The forecasts presented in this chapter were developed with the latest available data and reflect current airport conditions in order to provide adequate justification for future airport development. Information that was prepared to help inform and support the forecasts and is provided in Appendix C – Passenger Demand Analysis and Appendix D – General Aviation Industry Analysis.

Key influential components of the forecasts include accelerated population growth occurring in northern Colorado, a strong economy and growing business opportunities in the Fort-Collins-Loveland area, the Airport’s role as a key component of the region’s growing high-tech/innovation-focused economy, and the high potential for the return of commercial service at FNL following the anticipated certification of the remote tower in 2020. Overall, total aircraft operations, passenger enplanements, and based aircraft at FNL are anticipated to increase throughout the 20-year planning period.
